BGPA KINGS PARK WANJU MARR

Project Value: $1.8M
Architect: PlanE & MJA Studio Architects

Western Projects were engaged by PlanE on behalf of the Botanic Gardens Parks Authority to construct the new Wanju Marr building, a purpose built hub for the volunteers of Kings Park Botanic Gardens. Situated on Lovekin Drive in Kings Park, the hub construction included two new purpose built workshops, office spaces, staff amenities and kitchenette. An adjoining undercover area was designed to sit between the existing and new hub building, incorporating large communal BBQ benches and outdoor seating for the staff and volunteers of Kings Park. The outdoor communal area was constructed with bespoke jarrah ceiling trusses enveloped by large galvanised steel framing and gates.

The impressive entry material storage bays were included in the scope and constructed from custom pre-cast concrete decorative panels inset with a native floral pattern, specially designed for the BGPA. Western Projects coordinated all aspects of panel construction from mold design to onsite installation to deliver a show stopping piece to the facility entry.

Being situated on a Class A Reserve, construction of the Wanju Marr Facility required expert Site and Project Management to coordinate all trades, construction activities, plant and material deliveries in line with BGPA strict Hygiene and Site Policies. This project was delivered under budget, on time and with the up-most care and respect to the surrounding environment. The Western Projects team were very proud to be involved in such a rewarding project for the Botanic Gardens Parks Authority.
