CHRIST CHURCH CHAPEL
|Architect:||With Architecture (Donaldson & Warn Architects)|
After previously completing highly detailed architectural projects with Donaldson & Warn Architects (including the fit out of their new studio in Northbridge, which coincided with the company re-branding to With Architecture) Western Projects were contracted to complete a large-scale refurbishment of the Chapel at Christ Church Grammar School.
The scope, involved increasing the capacity of the existing chapel, while maintaining the Majesty. A major component of the works included producing additional pews, matching seamlessly with the existing. Nyatoh was sourced from specialty timber suppliers in Adelaide, and a team of master craftsmen worked for 6 months to produce the pews. The results are outstanding.
Precast concrete panels surround the landscaped courtyard and leads visitors in through the Structural Glazed canopy to the chapel overlooking Freshwater Bay.
Upgrades to the Audio-Visual System and Architectural finishes throughout, along with the addition of an operable expanding stage ensures the Chapel will remain the ideal location for school services and private events long into the future.
Works were completed within the operational school environment. Western Projects provided expert management to ensure all HSEQ requirements were upheld, with no interruption to school business.
