Western Projects were engaged by NS Projects to facilitate the Design and Construction of the ACP Mitigation Project to Building 216 on campus at Curtin University.
Working as the lead consultant, Western Projects engaged a team of professional consultants to develop a fully compliant replacement cladding system, certified to meet the updated NCC codes (2019 amendment).
To complete the design and certification process, we engaged a Design Consultant, Fire Engineer, ESC Consultant, BCA Consultant and a Structural Facade Engineer to specify, review and certify the proposed replacement cladding system. This system included replacement of the wall insulation, sarking, top hats and panels. Independent certification fast tracked approval by local authorities and allowed for efficient commencement of works onsite.
Due to the extended lead time of the replacement panels, the client, Curtin University opted to install a interim cladding solution using colorbond roof sheeting. This interim solution allowed immediate removal of the high risk ACP’s and installation of a temporary weatherproof cladding to protect the building from elemental exposure during panel delivery.
All works were completed on time and within budget with minimal disruption to the operational 216 building and surrounding campus environment.
