Located in Fremantle, the University of Notre Dame’s Student Hub Project involved the large-scale refurbishment of the existing heritage Prindiville Hall building. Designed by The Fulcrum Agency, the project received two awards in 2018 with Commendations in both the Interior Architecture category and Heritage Category in the Australian Institute of Architects Awards.
Project works included demolition of the existing areas with care taken to preserve the historical elements of the building to include intensive masonry conservation. New structural steel and timber framed rooms were constructed to create a new vibrant student recreation and meeting hub, complete with an alfresco courtyard, funky lounge and hammock space, and state-of-the-art study rooms while also providing a permanent home for Notre Dame’s Student Association and Student Clubs.
Completing the works in January 2018, the project was delivered on time and in budget with a high level of workmanship and finesse. The success of the Prindiville Hall Refurbishment demonstrates Western Projects’ commitment to restoring Perth’s most historic and iconic buildings along by introducing modern architectural finishes in a sympathetic nature.
