UWA CO2 BUILDING PANEL REPLACEMENT

Project Value: $250K
Superintendent: University of Western Australia

Western Projects were directly engaged by The University of Western Australia to undertake the replacement of the existing aluminium composite panels on the CO2 Research Facility.

The scope of works included removal of the existing aluminium composite facade panels and replacement with painted vinyl glazed panels. The removal of the existing aluminium composite soffit linings and replacement with flush lined, painted Versilux was also incorporated into the project scope.

The panels were removed and installed one at a time to protect the building from external conditions and to ensure the area remained operational with minimal disruption to building occupants. Individual panel replacement involved disconnection of lighting and security components and reconnection to each new panel during installation, adding complexity to the works. Project communication was the key to the successful delivery of this project. Our full time site manager provided daily updates to the projects team, along with conducting weekly site meetings with all stakeholders.

The project presented a high-risk scope, working at heights of up to three storeys. Western Projects supervision and safety management systems onsite ensured all works were delivered safely, on time and within project budget to the satisfaction of the client.
